General conditions for assembly and disassembly work

Status: 22.01.2026

1. Customer-Provided Site Requirements for Assembly and Disassembly

The customer shall provide the following necessary conditions to ensure that assembly or disassembly can be carried out safely, without disruption, and without additional expense. This includes in particular:

a) Loading and Unloading

Unless otherwise agreed, loading and unloading shall be carried out by the customer.

If larger mobile cranes or additional transport vehicles are required due to space constraints, these will be charged as additional expenses.

b) Access, Approach Routes, and Working Areas

Free, safe, and unobstructed access for technicians, service vehicles, mobile cranes, and transport vehicles, as well as load-bearing traffic routes and working surfaces, must be ensured.

Suitable access and exit routes for loaded vehicles must be guaranteed at all times.

c) Clearance and Working Environment

Adequate clearance for assembly/disassembly equipment adjacent to or beneath the installation, allowing for the minimum possible outreach.

Sufficient space for lowering, lifting, hoisting, slewing, relocating, and dismantling crane systems and components.

d) Provision of Equipment and Infrastructure

Provision of all necessary lifting equipment, mobile cranes, aerial work platforms, and additional auxiliary devices.

Ensuring that all required conditions for welding, cutting, or torch operations are in place.

Free use of electricity, water, break rooms, and sanitary facilities for TEICHMANN technicians.

Required supports or substructures, such as timber pads or concrete blocks for crane assembly/disassembly, as agreed.

e) Operational Condition of the Equipment

Crane systems must remain operational until the time of assembly/disassembly, particularly to allow movement into the most suitable working position.

f) Isolation of Utilities

All relevant energy and supply lines (e.g., electricity, gas, heating) must be de-energized or depressurized by the customer and secured against reconnection.

g) Permits and Safety Measures

The customer is responsible for obtaining all necessary road closures, traffic control measures, work area barriers, permits, and, if required, the removal of overhead lines.

The customer shall prepare the required risk assessment and provide safe working equipment, lifting gear, and secure traffic and working surfaces.

2. Execution in Accordance with Applicable Standards and Regulations

TEICHMANN shall carry out all assembly and disassembly work in accordance with the applicable German standards and regulations, as well as the generally recognized rules of engineering practice.

3. Interruptions and Additional Expenses

If assembly or disassembly is interrupted for reasons not attributable to TEICHMANN, waiting times for personnel and vehicles, as well as any additional mobilization and demobilization, will be charged at the applicable billing rates. This also applies to weather-related interruptions (e.g., storms, flooding, etc.). Work performed outside regular working hours will be charged with the applicable surcharges in accordance with our current hourly billing rates.

Work carried out outside regular working hours at the customer’s request will likewise be charged with the applicable surcharges.

4. Installation on Customer-Provided Crane Runway

  1. Crane rails or crane runways of sufficient length shall be provided by the customer.
  • The design and dimensioning of crane runways, rails, fixings, and foundations, as well as their installation, are the responsibility of the purchaser. This also applies to the dimensioning and safety of end stops, buffers, wind restraints, etc. Compliance with crane rail tolerances in accordance with ISO 12488-1 is likewise the responsibility of the purchaser.

The structural stability of the substructure or foundations, as well as their static suitability, shall remain the responsibility of the purchaser.

5. Disassembly and Dismantling of Crane Systems

The cranes must be kept operational until the time of disassembly, in particular to allow travel to the most suitable position for dismantling.

TEICHMANN is entitled to carry out separation cuts at bolted joint connections where this is economically reasonable.

Gantry cranes shall, where structurally feasible, be lowered onto rails at crane runway level and dismantled there.

Overhead travelling cranes shall be lifted off the crane runway either as a complete unit or in components, lowered transversely or longitudinally, and subsequently dismantled.

All work required for disassembly (e.g., flame cutting, cutting operations, loosening of heavy-duty connections) shall be enabled by the customer, including the provision of suitable working conditions.

6. Scope of Services for Third-Party Installations

Work on third-party crane systems or crane systems provided by the customer shall generally be performed in their existing condition, without structural modifications, alterations, repairs, or commissioning work.

Connecting elements such as bolts, screws, and accessories shall be provided by the customer.

Electrical installation work, power connections, commissioning, and acceptance tests shall remain entirely the responsibility of the customer.

7. Supervisory Assembly (Richtmeister) for Third-Party or Customer-Provided Installations

The provision of a site supervisor (Richtmeister) or technical lead by TEICHMANN shall be limited exclusively to professional guidance and technical coordination of the workflow.

No authority under labor law, organizational control, or safety-related supervisory power shall exist over personnel provided by the customer. The customer shall remain fully responsible for occupational safety, instruction, supervision, and the conduct of its personnel and shall be liable for any resulting damages, delays, or accidents.

The site supervisor shall not assume any safety-related responsibility under the German Industrial Safety Ordinance (Betriebssicherheitsverordnung – BetrSichV), the German Occupational Safety and Health Act (Arbeitsschutzgesetz – ArbSchG), or the regulations of the German Social Accident Insurance (Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung – DGUV).

All decisions regarding work procedures, safety, and organization shall remain solely with the customer, who shall appoint the responsible persons (e.g., lifting supervisor, crane operator, slinger, safety and health coordinator).

8. Supervisory Assembly (Richtmeister) for Crane Systems Supplied by TEICHMANN

For the assembly of crane systems supplied by TEICHMANN, the site supervisor (Richtmeister) provided by TEICHMANN shall assume the technical and organizational management of the assembly process in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications, assembly instructions, and applicable standards.

In this context, the site supervisor shall have authority to issue instructions with regard to the technical execution of the assembly, in particular concerning the sequence of work, assembly methods, the use of tools and auxiliary equipment, and the coordination of the individual assembly steps.

This authority shall be expressly limited to technical and assembly-related instructions and shall not constitute any authority under labor law over the customer’s personnel or third parties.

The customer shall ensure and remain responsible for confirming that the personnel deployed:

  • are professionally qualified and suitable for the respective tasks,
  • are medically fit for work (e.g., fit for working at height),
  • have received adequate instruction, and
  • are equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibility for occupational safety, instruction, medical fitness for work, supervisory duties, and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations remains with the customer as employer.

The site supervisor shall not assume responsibility for the personal safety of the deployed personnel, nor any inspection or approval responsibility for work equipment, lifting accessories, or personal protective equipment.

9. Exclusion of Liability for Damage to Third-Party Installations and Customer Facilities

TEICHMANN shall provide no warranty and assume no liability for damage to third-party or customer-provided crane systems, buildings, hall structures, floors, foundations, traffic areas, utility lines, technical installations, or any other customer facilities arising in connection with assembly or disassembly work.

TEICHMANN shall be liable exclusively in cases of intent or gross negligence on the part of its own personnel. Any further liability — in particular for indirect damages, production losses, downtime costs, or consequential damages — is excluded.

The customer shall indemnify and hold harmless TEICHMANN against damages resulting from organizational deficiencies, incorrect information, or improper operation by the customer’s personnel.

10. Exclusion of Liability for Delays and Business Interruptions

TEICHMANN shall assume no liability whatsoever for delays, work interruptions, operational shutdowns, or any resulting production losses, downtime costs, or similar damages. Liability shall exist only in cases of intent or gross negligence.

11. Limitation of Total Liability

The total aggregate amount of all claims for damages, including operational and product liability as well as property and financial damages, shall — notwithstanding statutory provisions — be limited to the respective existing insurance coverage amount.

The customer shall ensure that adequate insurance coverage is in place for work carried out on crane systems.
